Dara Torres Turns Back the Clock in Bid to Make Olympic Team for Fifth Time

Dara Torres has already won nine medals in four different Olympic years (1984, 1988, 1992, 2000) but she is far from resting on her laurels: the 41 year old swimmer, who set the first of her three world records as a 14 year old in 1982, is employing a unique stretching and conditioning program that is enabling her to beat competitors who are less than half of her age. You can read all about her in this New York Times article by Elizabeth Weil.

Here is some visual proof of how well conditioned Torres is:

Wow can you say HGH? She is incredible. I know its possible to work out continuously and look like that but she is remarkable.

I'm not foolish enough to go out on a limb and declare for certain that Torres is clean but there have been swimmers in the pre-steroids/HGH era who competed at the Olympic level at an advanced age and my understanding is that it is easier to do this in sprints--like Torres is doing--than in the longer events.

Torres has agreed to be tested above and beyond the minimum requirements. If it is possible, I think that they should keep the samples and retest them in future years as the testing becomes more fine tuned.

Just to be clear, I believe that she is clean--or I would not have written about her--but in this day and age there is no way to be 100% certain.

I know she is clean. She just looks remarkable and the cynic in me came out when asking this. I definitely dont watch sports thinking everyone is juicing. If you do that then there is no point to watch. I checked her website and can see why she is so fit.
